হে অমিক,তব নামে আমি উন্মাদ হয়েছি। আমার চুলগুলো বলে ইয়া অমিক,অমিক! চোখ,নাক, মুখ তারাও! আমার প্রতীটা রক্তের ফোটা বলে ইয়া অমিক,অমিক! লসিকা,অশ্রু,লালা তারাও! আমি তোমার বিরহে চোখের জল মিশিয়ে কত কবিতা লিখেছি। আর মানুষ তা না পড়েই উপহাস করে যায়। তবে আমার মৃত্যুর পরে বলবে ছেলেটা কবিতা ভালোই লিখতো! আমি সেদিন তোমার দেওয়া বেদনার ক্রুশে অধিষ্ঠিত হয়ে বলেছিলাম, 'অমিক,অমিক লিমা সাবাখতানি!' তবে তুমি যেন ইহুদী-রোমান দের মতো আচরণ করলে! হে অমিক,সুখে থাকো চিরকাল তোমার আসন চিরদিন মহীয়ান থাকুক। আমি পাগল হয়ে ঘুরি চারিদিকে, হয়তো সক্রেটিস,প্লেটো হয়ে যেতে পারি,পথে-প্রান্তরে ঘুরে ঘুরে।
Translation (English)
O Amik, I have gone crazy in your name.
My hair says, Oh Amik, Amik!
My eyes, nose, mouth too!
Every drop of my blood says, Oh Amik, Amik!
Lymph, tears, saliva too!
In your absence, I've mixed my tears
and written many poems.
And people, without even reading them,
make fun of me.
But after I die, they will say
that boy wrote good poems!
That day, on the cross of pain you gave me,
I said,
'Amik, Amik Lima Sabachthani!'
But you acted like the Jews and Romans!
O Amik, may you always be happy,
may your throne always be grand.
I wander around madly,
maybe I could become like Socrates or Plato,
wandering through roads and fields.
